My husband and I just moved to a new part of town, one that is unfamiliar to both of us. After the unpacking and organizing, a huge part of getting settled is learning all about the area. In finding the best places to eat, where we should send our dog to daycare (yes, you read that right) and a church to attend, we have relied heavily on the recommendations from friends, family and colleagues.
This move reminds me about the power of word of mouth. According to the Word of Mouth Marketing Association, word of mouth drives 54 percent of purchasing decisions. As a consumer, I trust a vet suggested by a friend over a Google search. The same goes for an electrician who has provided quality service to a coworker over the help wanted ads. As marketers, we need to ensure our brands are delivering a quality experience so they continue to make the short list of recommendations.
What do you want the folks new to town to hear about you?
