I’ve found when you tell people you work in PR, you tend to get one of two reactions. Either they shake their heads and say they wish they could get paid for going to events or they shake their heads and say, “That is all very nice, can you please get off your iPhone/iPad/iWhatever and stop working for a minute?” I’m pretty sure my parents didn’t think my job was actually real for a few years.
The point is, not everyone understands what we do. Which is why after a hard, long, busy and often stressful week, it is so great to be working side-by-side with people who get it. It doesn’t matter if you’re working on the same account. It’s a support system. We definitely have that here at Crossroads. Whether it’s being a silent partner in the room while you’re giving a presentation, a sounding board for crazy ideas or a fantasy football coach to help you out because you don’t have time to pay attention to what’s going on with injuries and stats – it’s the people you work with that make you happy to come back in on Monday.
Cheers, Crossroads, and thank you for a great week!
